Nicolas Guilbert is a French painter, photographer, and graphic designer. His work has been published in Le Monde, Le Nouvel Observateur, Senso, Citizen K, and books devoted to his photography. Antoine de Caunes is a French television and cinema personality. He appeared in the BBC2 television series Rapido, and created Eurotrash with Jean Paul Gaultier for Channel 4. He presented the 38th César Awards. Cécile Guilbert is an author and literary critic who has published several books. She received the Prix Médicis for Warhol Spirit.

A treasure for anyone who loves Paris or photography

Following in the tradition of Paris' great street photographers, Nicolas Guilbert captures ordinary moments of Parisian life that through his keen eye become extraordinary. His images reveal him as an artist in the truest sense of the word — but also a comedian, a philosopher, and even a cultural anthropologist. And no matter the subject, there is an immense love that runs like a thread through all of Guilbert's images. I highly recommend this beautiful book for anyone who appreciates street photography or portraiture, and for anyone who wants to burrow beneath Paris' clichéd veneer and see the city and her people in a new and more authentic light. C'est vraiment un triomphe. Bravo, Msr. Guilbert !

About the Author

Graham Sellers is the API lead on the Vulkan spec. He is AMD Software Architect and Engineering Fellow, represents AMD at the OpenGL ARB. He has actively contributed to the core Vulkan and OpenGL specs and extensions, and holds several graphics and image processing patents.

John Kessenich is the language lead on the Vulkan spec. He is Senior Compiler Architect at LunarG Inc., has been active in OpenGL, GLSL, Vulkan, and SPIR-V development in the OpenGL ARB and in Khronos since 1999. He created the SPIR-V intermediate language and is its specification editor. He is also the GLSL specification editor, and active in creating shader compiler tools and translators for increased portability of these standards. Sound financial advice for any age group!

This is an excellent primer for financial success for all stages of life. I like how it starts with the basics of budgeting and advances to an easy to understand approach to investing. The author’s approach to the stock market and financial planning is sensible and clearly has worked over time. This is a book I would recommend to any generation as a reference tool and motivation to get their financial future in order with little work on their part.

This is a perceptive and well-written book, easy to understand and really motivates one to get onboard the savings and financial planning wagon early in life. It should be required reading for all high school graduates. Even though I have long since passed this phase in my live and learned most of Jim's lessons over time, they were not all learned early enough and some by (financially) painful experience. I look forward to his next book addressing my current financial life. This is an excellent choice.

About the Author

Prof Dr Mario Vanhoucke is associate professor at Ghent University and Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School (Belgium). He teaches Project Management, Business Statistics and Applied Operations Research. He is program director of the Bachelors and Masters in Business Engineering and the advanced Master in Operations and Technology Management and is a partner of OR-AS. His main research interest lies in simulation and optimization models in project scheduling and scheduling in the health care sector. Great study

Vanhoucke has spent some significant time with studying the science of project tracking and applying some fairly sophisticated research methods. While this book will not be suited to a large audience, we should see some of the author's findings making their way into more sophisticated project management tools.

One example is the difference between earned-value and Lipke's "earned-schedule". Vanhoucke finds that duration estimates made using earned schedule are consistently better (and more understandable) than those made using traditional earned-value.

Other findings are much more sophisticated. The material about schedule adherence and the differences between schedules that are primarily serial vs. those that have many activities running in parallel yield some interesting and useful results. For example, the more highly parallel the project structure is the less effective critical path methods are.

The book will require significant energy to read as the the examples will require some detailed reading and analysis. Still, I don't think there is anything else like it.

About the Author
Ian Todd is a founding Managing Director and Marine Science Consultant at OSC, and is undertaking part-time postgraduate research in harbour porpoise (and other marine mammal) interactions with offshore installations and the environment at ISVR (PhD, Southampton University, UK). He holds degrees in Marine Resource, Development & Protection (NERC-funded MSc scholarship, Heriot-Watt University, UK) and Business & Economics (BCom with Honours, Edinburgh University, UK), various diplomas including Marine Engineering (HND, Glasgow College of Nautical Studies, UK), and a Marine Engineering Officer Certificate of Dual Competency (Class IV Steam and Motor Plants, Maritime & Coastguard Agency, UK). As a former Third Engineer Officer (including Health and Safety Officer) in the Merchant Navy, Mr Todd served deep-sea and worldwide with P&O Nedlloyd, then the world's largest container-shipping company. He organises and supervises visual and acoustic surveys of marine mammals worldwide for scientific, commercial and defence contracts. Mr Todd's research interests are as per OSC's core research topics, but include distance sampling, and his current scientific duties are similar to Dr Victoria Todd, but include recruitment, procurement, logistics, finance, brand development, environmental risk assessments, and Health & Safety (H&S).
